My humanistic philosophy
My approach to therapy is based on a proven principle of how human beings grow. The more we accept and move towards who we are, as opposed to forcing ourselves to be different, the more we grow. Sometimes life is hard. We experience loss, trauma, adversity, harshness, lack of understanding or feel unable to meet the expectations of life, others or ourselves. This can get in the way of us understanding and valuing ourselves. My therapy works by supporting you to tune back into who you are, over time. Working collaboratively, at your pace, we work to raise your self-awareness, gently noticing the internal, embodied and relational signals that can inform your life. As you integrate more self-compassion and self-understanding through our work, you can start to reconnect with your 'internal compass', finding your own way through difficulty.
My integrative practice
My core training is Person-Centred and Gestalt Psychotherapy, which emphasise the central importance of a genuine, open and curious relationship between us, where your unique experience is valued - just as it is. To create this, I bring my warm presence, curiosity, gentle playfulness and sometimes my own vulnerability to support you to understand yourself at a deeper level. I integrate Parts work, Mindfulness and Self-compassion and trauma-informed practice.
I receive regular supervision for my practice in accordance with the UKCP. I continue to invest in training to support my professional development, for the benefit of my clients. To connect with me WhatsApp me on 07812590503 or email me at lucywalthoetherapy@gmail.com
